Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, meet with trekking company representative and transfer to hotel
On the first day, you will arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. You will be greeted by a representative from your trekking company at the airport, who will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may have time to explore the city and visit some of its famous landmarks and temples.Day 2: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m)
On the second day, you will take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain town in the Khumbu region. From Lukla, you will start trekking towards Phakding, a village located at an altitude of 2,651 meters. The trail will take you through lush forests and picturesque Sherpa villages, with stunning views of the Himalayas along the way.Day 3: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
The third day of the trek involves a challenging climb up to Namche Bazaar, the largest settlement in the Khumbu region. The trail passes through the Dudh Koshi river valley and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. You can take a hike to Nagarjun Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.Day 8: Today’s trek takes us from Kutumsang to Chisapani. We start with a steep climb up to the ridge, where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. We then descend through lush forests, passing through small villages and terraced fields, before arriving at Chisapani, a picturesque village perched atop a hill. Here, we can unwind and enjoy the serene surroundings while taking in the views of the mountains and the valley below.
Day 9: Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170m), hike to Everest Base Camp (5,364m)
This is one of the most exciting days of the trek as you will finally reach the Everest Base Camp. The trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep is relatively short and takes about three hours. Gorak Shep is a small settlement at the base of Kala Patthar, with a few lodges where trekkers stay. After a quick rest and lunch, you will begin the hike to Everest Base Camp. The trail to the base camp is mostly flat, but there are some rocky and icy sections that require caution.
Reaching the base camp is a significant accomplishment, and you will get to see the Khumbu Icefall up close. During the climbing season (April-May), the base camp is a bustling village of expedition teams preparing to summit the world’s highest peak. After spending some time at the base camp, you will hike back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m), trek to Pheriche (4,371m)
This day starts early with a pre-dawn hike up to Kala Patthar, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan range. The hike to the summit takes about two hours and can be challenging due to the high altitude and steep ascent. However, the views of the sunrise over Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks are well worth the effort.
After descending from Kala Patthar, you will have breakfast and begin the trek back down to Pheriche. This is a long day of trekking, but it is mostly downhill and offers stunning views of the Himalayan range. Pheriche is a small village with several lodges where trekkers stay overnight.
Day 11: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
The trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar takes about six hours and involves crossing several suspension bridges and passing through several small villages. You will also pass through Tengboche, where you can visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, which offers stunning views of Mount Everest and other peaks in the region. Namche Bazaar is a bustling village and the commercial hub of the Khumbu region. It is a great place to relax and stock up on souvenirs before heading back to Kathmandu.
Day 12: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m)
The trek back to Lukla follows the same trail you took on the way up. It takes about six hours and involves crossing several suspension bridges and passing through several small villages. You will also get to enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan range along the way. Once you reach Lukla, you can relax and celebrate the completion of your trek.
Day 13: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu
On this day, you will take a short flight back to Kathmandu. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayan range and is a fitting end to your adventure.
Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
On your final day in Nepal, you will have some free time to explore Kathmandu before departing for the airport for your flight back home. This marks the end of your Everest Base Camp trek, but the memories and experiences will last a lifetime.
